In the context of the EU-Africa High Level Policy Dialogue (HLPD) on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and in view of the Africa-EU Summit of November 2017, the EU-Africa HLPD Bureau is launching a call for expressions of interest to organise a 90 minutes session at the HLPD stakeholder meeting in Brussels on 19 October 2017.
The EU-Africa High Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation was launched in 2010 as part of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES) with the aim of facilitating regular exchanges between Europe and Africa in the field of research and innovation (R&I). Through this platform, research and innovation policy-makers from both continents have been designing and implementing jointly long-term priorities of mutual interest.
The stakeholder meeting will be held immediately after the two-day plenary session of the EU-Africa High Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation, due to take place in Brussels on 17-18 October 2017, and will broadly address the agenda items of the HLPD plenary:
(i) Taking stock of the EU-Africa Research and Innovation Partnership on Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA) and discussing ways for its implementation;
(ii) Endorsing the EU-Africa Research and Innovation Partnership on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy and suggesting ways for its implementation;
(iii) Exploring horizontal policies of cooperation, such as human capital development, ‘Research Fairness’and ‘Open Science’ and their potential added value to the two aforementioned EU-Africa R&I Partnerships.
The goal of the stakeholder meeting is to facilitate inclusive participation, cooperation and integration among all interested parties from Europe and Africa -from the public sector, private sector, foundations, funding agencies, research-performing organisations, academia and NGOs etc.- to discuss interactively on the topics described above and advance the Research and Innovation Partnerships together.
You are invited to express your interest to organise a 90-minutes session in this event by e-mail to RTD-EU-AFRICA-HLPD-BUREAU@ec.europa.eu no later than 4 August 2017. In the same e-mail please indicate the title, the link to the main agenda items outlined above and a short outline of your session (half a page maximum), together with the requested logistics.
Please note that the Bureau of the EU-Africa High Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation is not in a position to cover your travel and accommodation expenses, however we trust that the latter can be covered through your project.
