The ERANETMED Final Conference assembled almost 100 participants from 15 Mediterranean countries and partner institutions for stocktaking and networking among the 50 approved projects of the three calls. ERANETMED aims establishing a framework of program owners and managers related to S&T cooperation from Europe and Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC). The objective is to strengthen Euro-Mediterranean research co-operation in order to tackle some of the major challenges that the Mediterranean is facing.
Under the motto “Legacy for Euro-Mediterranean Joint Programming” the successful 48 projects presented preliminary results. They had been selected out of 426 submitted proposals in three calls. The 18 participating funding agencies of 15 countries had mobilized 32 million € for funding the projects. Main call topics were renewable energy and sustainable water management, but the calls also addressed climate and demographic change, land and water management, ecosystems and vulnerable communities. ERANETMED not only facilitated to build a strong network of the research community in the region but also paved the way for the recently launched program “PRIMA - the partnership for research and innovation in the Mediterranean area”. Participating countries of the ERANETMED are: Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Tunisia, Turkey, Spain and the international CIHEAM-Bari/Italy. Although the selected projects are still ongoing, the ERANETMED program will be finished by end of March 2018.
